Polycoated Consumer Paper Packaging Material

Polycoated Consumer Paper Packaging Material

Extrusion-coated packaging materials find application in the packaging of food, confectionery, pharmaceutical industries, and various other consumer sectors. The addition of a polyethylene coating contributes to the enhancement of hygiene standards, extended preservation times, heat sealing capabilities, as well as providing effective moisture, grease, gas, and aroma barrier properties.

Polycoated Consumer Board: We offer the folding carton industry an array of suitable materials for packaging moist or greasy food products, whether they are fresh, dried, chilled, or frozen. A slim LDPE coating of 10 Gsm can be applied to duplex board, which is available in roll or sheet form for further conversion into folding cartons after printing. These cartons are ideal for packaging items such as ice cream, pizza, cakes, and more.

Each specific application demands the selection of a board type based on criteria like strength, hygiene, appearance, cost-effectiveness, and availability. For instance, when it comes to frozen and chilled foods, the board should ideally be hard-sized to prevent moisture absorption or the entry of moisture through cut edges.

The primary board types used are as follows:

Coated Natural Kraft (CNK)
Solid Bleached Sulfate (SBS)
Folding Boxboard (FBB or GC)
Whitelined Chipboard (WLC or GD).
Greyboard or Duplex Board or Unlined Chipboard (ULC)
The polymer types used include:

Clear or Pigmented Polypropylene: Selected for its grease resistance and higher temperature tolerance.
Clear or Pigmented Polyethylene: Employed for moisture barrier, chilled or frozen foods, and for heat sealability.
Clear and Metallized Polyester Film Laminates: Ideal for both decorative and functional applications, including ovenable barriers.
